Factor Completely: 2x2 − 18 Prime 2(x2 − 9) 2(x + 3)(x − 3) 2(x + 3)(x + 3)

OpenStudy (tyteen4a03):

@Solmyr Factor out the 2 in the expression first, then use the difference of square identity.

9? because 9*2=18 and 18/9=2

OpenStudy (tyteen4a03):

@Solmyr 9 is not a common factor of 2x^2 and 18 because you can't express 2 in terms of 9. See my first message for actual solution.
