am i allowed to write this out like this total -$19.00?

zepdrix (zepdrix):

What is your concern? The negative sign?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i want to write a negative next to the money sign to let people know it was subtracting from an amount

zepdrix (zepdrix):

It depends on the problem. I would say it's probably fine, as long as you understand what that number represents. You can't have a NEGATIVE amount of money. So it represents DEBT, or money owed. I'm confused, is -$19 your final answer? Or you were subtracting 19 from a different number. Like to show that you were taking 19 dollars away from a total.

subtracting from an amount of money but its not my final answer lol

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Oh that makes sense then:) yah You have some amount of money, and you're taking away 19 dollars. Looks fine ^^

okay thanks
