connections Academy Lesson 4: Lab: The Effect of Cell Size on Material Transport unit 3. Please Help Me

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

As size of the cell increases the ratio of cell volume to surface area increases. Thus as size of the cell increases, it makes it harder for cells to move in enough nutrients and expel waste/signaling molecules.

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

Eukaryotic cells overcome this problem with the aid of the cytoskeleton, as it can efficiently move things in and out of the cell using molecular motors. For example Kinesins (Moves from inside to outer area of cell (+ end directing (I remember this by thinking that the k can be turned into a plus sign)) and Dynins (move from outer area of cell to inner area of cell (- directing)) which move on microtubules.

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

Track pad is broken so I cant really help you as everything I write gets erased (blame apple).
