Choose the correct description of the graph of the compound inequality x - 1 9 or 2x 24 A number line with an open circle on 10, shading to the left, and an open circle on 12, shading to the right. A number line with a closed circle on 10, shading to the left, and a closed circle on 12, shading to the right. A number line with an open circle on 10, an open circle on 12, and shading in between. A number line with a closed circle on 10, a closed circle on 12, and shading in between.

Looks like the symbols didn't show up again - can you say what they are?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh ya sowwie its x-1 less then or equal to 9 or 2x greater then or equal to 24

Ok, so the first thing to do is simplify them. For the first one, just add 1 to both sides, and you get x <= 10. For the second one, divide both sides by 2, and you get x >= 12. When you're graphing inequalities, use a closed circle if it's "or equal to," and an open circle otherwise. So, here's what it would look like:|dw:1356196816735:dw| (sorry for the terrible drawing). That's choice B.
