use the distributive law to factor the following. Check by multiplying. 12x+2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Look at what factors into both of the parts, 12x and 2! Then write that and work out what you need to times it by to get the original equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wouldnt it be 2 since 2 factors both

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct! So you can write it as 2(something) to get 12x+2, and you just need to work out what that something is! :)

thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did you get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its 26=x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't think it's asking you to find out what x is, and I'm not sure how you did! You just need to rewrite it as 2(something), which is factorising it like it asks. So 2(6x+1) I think is the answer you're looking for!

oh okay i understand now sorry
