Choose the equation of the horizontal line that passes through the point (-8, -7).

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Equations of horizontal lines are of the form y = b, where b is the y-coordinate of every point on the line. Since this line goes through point (-8, -7) and is horizontal, every point has y-coordinate -7, no matter what its x-coordinate is.

OpenStudy (jennychan12):

horizontal lines are y = (some number) so your coordinate is (0,-7). so then your other point is (-8,-7). Find the equation of the line using either y = mx+b. so the line is y = -7
