help me out with this question please? 1. Think about the renewing of cells in a human body. What would happen if new cells stopped forming when we reached maturity while old cells never died off? Then consider what would happen if new cells continued to form while old cells never died off?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the first part ask you to think about why is cells renewal useful. Cells get old that's why they need to die. the second part basically tells about cancer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm.. well I get the second part because in cancer, cells don’t communicate with the rest of the body and they just continue replicating themselves. but I still don't get the first part..:(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when cells get old their function is altered. They'd better die than go to cancer..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ataly but the question says what would happen if the old cells never died off

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they would produce toxins, not react properly to signals sent by others, and so on.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ataly so do you mean if the old cells never died off, they would produce toxins and not react properly to signals sent by others. So eventually we will die?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exactly!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ataly Aha!!! now I get it!! Thank you soooooo much!!:D

no problem!
