Help please.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

3y + 15 > -6 What do you suppose you might do first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know I am not good at this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its a thoroughly detailed explanation of how to approach these questions

OpenStudy (yrelhan4):

look.. 3y + 15 > -6 take 15 to the other side.. --> 3y > -21--> y>-21/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah and i said that i don't get how to do it!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need use your words and describe where your having the trouble. The whole 'i don't understand' routine does nothing to narrow it down

OpenStudy (anonymous):

normally when people dont specify where they are having trouble it means the WHOLE PROBLEM!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first unblock me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then see the previous post where i walk you through the 'whole problem' including: 1) clarification of what is being asked in the question, 2) method of solution through algebra 3) method of solution on number line the answer can't just be downloaded to your brain, there is some amount of effort required from your end, regardless of how much you elevate and demand things.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Most fundamentally, you must know that you need y > stuff Getting that 'y' all alone is your task. How are things attached to the 'y' and how can you get them off. y + 5 -- 5 is attached by addition. Use subtraction to move it. y / 5 -- 5 is attached by division. Use multiplication to move it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am still confused.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes its a easy questio

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well then can you help?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

3y + 15 > -6 How is the 15 related to the 'y'?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know!! ask their parents!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its B , because

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you add them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract 15 from both side in main equation and then divide both side by 3 . Reply what you get ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't get what you mean by that

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

3y + 15 > -6 Subtract 15 from both sides 3y+15-15 > -6-15 you get.. 3y > -21 Divide by 3 on both sides 3y/3 > -21/3 You get.. y > -7

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

Confusion fixed?!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok that makes sense and yes confusion fixed.. LOL

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

LOL it was the same thing people were trying to tell you before.....Review the notes above.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I read above but you just did it different to make it make sense. I don't know if that makes sense but...

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

No no...i just wrote the steps smaller. The people up there wrote it out in detailed explanation which is good.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but not good if you don't understand it

OpenStudy (karatechopper):

Meh..u get it now? Good.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks
