Find the unit rate: 3 tablespoons for 1.5 servings.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Please explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The word 'unit' generally means '1' is involved. We have two numbers: 3 and 1.5 We want the proportion between them to stay the same, but we want one of the numbers to become 1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To keep proportions the same, we multiply/divide both numbers by the same number. For example 3 to 1.5 is in the same proportion as 6 to 3, because both numbers were multiplied by 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6 to 3 is also in the sam proportion as 2 to 1, because that is just dividing both numbers by 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 tablespoons for 1 servings (or 2 tablespoons per serving) would be a unit rate.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what would I write down as the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would write 2 tablespoons/serving

Okay thanks :)
