OpenStudy (falco276):

Which of the following best describes a consequence of clearing land for building? More opportunities for primary succession to take place A decrease in biodiversity as natural habitats are removed An increased risk of natural disasters and catastrophic event Overall better health for the habitat due to improved sanitation

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

Primary succession is the development of soil and vegetation in an area that was lacking it before. Primary succession normally occurs after the movement of glacier through an area or by the deposition of lava flow A decrease in biodiversity as natural habitats are removed, well if you are paving an area and removing vegetation you are definitely decreasing biodiversity of that area An increased risk of natural disasters and catastrophic event, this can also be the case as root systems prevent erosion but it is likely not as applicable to this situation as something is being built on the land. Overall better health for the habitat due to improved sanitation <- this is just ridiculous

OpenStudy (falco276):

Thanks!
