I'm guessing this is a multiple choice question and you didn't give the answers so... Beowulf was originally written in Old English and close to no one could still read that today so it's often read in a modernized English today. Divine Comedy was written by Dante Alighieri in Italian. Both works are very religious, Grendel was a descendant of Cain and Divine Comedy is an epic poem which, in it, describes a journey through the various layers of Hell, each based on one of the seven cardinal sins (avarice, sloth, pride, lust, envy, gluttony, and wrath).
