Select the inequality that corresponds to the given graph. (see attached photo) A 3x - 7 < 11 B -4x greater than or equal to 24 C -2x + 7 less than or greater to 13 D 3(x - 2) - 3 greater than or equal to x - 5 my answer is D, am I correct?
It's not any of these.
If you changed the wording of "c" to say "less than or equal to", then "c" would be correct.
well those are the only answers they gave me, but you say its C
So, a simpler way to see the change to selection "c" is to change the word "greater" to "equal" and then you can have "c" as the correct answer. I would think that this is this is the case because "c" as worded looks like a typo, because one doesn't have something "greater to". One would have "equal to" or "greater than". So, make the correction to the wording of "c" and take that one.
well this is how C is -2x+7<11
Isn't it:\[-2x + 7 \le 11\]instead? Isn't there a bar under the inequality sign?
@tcarroll010 yeah your right
It is necessary to keep in mind that the two symbols are not the same. "c" is then definitely the correct answer since that is "less than or equal to".
If the symbol were < Then it would be "less than"
So, are you good on this now? Any lingering difficulties?
−2x + 7 ≤ 13 You will eventually get:x≥−3 if you first subtract 7 from both sides and then divide both sides by -2 (and also switching the inequality sign direction). And that's all there is to it.
Are you still there?
You're welcome.
yes
@tcarroll010 so just to be sure that C, is the right answer?
I have already answered this in detail. Please do me the courtesy of at least reading my answer and all the work I did for you already.
