I have no experience with programming whatsoever but I thought it would be a good idea taking this course to prepare for a computer science course next semester. The course would use MATLAB and I just wanted to ask if it's helpful or it will get me offtrack since MATLAB and Python have differences?

There's a course from MIT also that is an introduction to MATLAB, the number for the course is 6.094.. Hope it helps! ;)

Taking this class will teach you programming concepts using the python language. Those concepts are applicable to all programming languages in existance and will half your workload later since you won't be having to learn programming theory while also learning MATLAB on top of that and hitting your homework deadlines. Also, you will see python code over and over again in your worklife not so with Matlab.

I agree with myname--take the intro matlab course. The python course is great but it makes more sense to take an intro matlab course if you are going to study matlab in more detail. Unless the course you are going to be taking is an intro course, in that case I would take the python course for a wider background.
