What is an equation for the line that passes through points (–1, –4) and (1, 4)? Write the equation in slope-intercept form.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First, you need the slope. That's the same formula as before, for a slope of m=4. So you know the equation looks like y=4x+b. It has to work for (1,4), so 4 = 4+b. Clearly b=0, so the equation is just y=4x.
