Exercises on transposes, permutations, spaces 5.1 etc. Can someone please explain the homework questions, because I have not seen some of the notation in the MIT videos, lecture summary nor in recitation. Problem 5.1a): What is P3? We have learned P12 etc but I haven't seen this superscript. Problem 5.1b): What does the hat (^) over the P mean? Problem 5.2: What does it mean for an entry of A to be "chosen independently"? Thank you.

Sorry, P3 means P superscript 3. I guess HTML code isn't accepted at Open Study.

@JohnM Latex is. try \openparen P^3 \closeparen. Should look like this: \(P^3\)
