How many squares is on a checker board. I realize this would be fairly easy if I just had to count them but I need to count 2 by 2, 3 by 3, 4 by 4, and so on. Individual squares can be used more than once.

In an a x b SQUARE board, the number of squares on the board is given by the formula: ba(a+1)/2 - a(a+1)(a-1)/6
