Where can I find fun organic chemistry synthesis problems? I wanna keep my brain working over the Christmas break.
I can give you some if you'd like :)
Some synthesis Q's is what I meant. Lol. I don't know if I know any synthesis problem websites, but I have ton's of questions I was given to by professors when I used to TA for my PI's class.
Sure! I've finished organic 1 and really enjoyed it :) I hope they're really tough though, I'm good at them :D Thanks!
Organic 1? I assume you stopped at alcohols and gringards? Correct?
Yup I know all the stuff on oxidation and reduction and grignard's!
Also, most of the stuff on alkynes, all the stuff on alkenes, all the stuff on arenes. But I'm definetely open to learning new things! I'm very good at mechanisms too, those are fun
Starting with cyclohexanone, synthesize cycloheptanone: |dw:1356722325282:dw| It might save time (unless you want to) to ignore any detailed mechanisms of reactions you decide to use.
Ooh this looks challenging. What's up with the chair one the right of the product? I'll just ignore it right?
No. That's part of the product.
That's not cycloheptanone then... I don't even know what that's called!
You can chose to ignore it Yes. Your steps should be the same getting to your product.
Holy crap... Ok I GOT THIS
You can do it! I believe in you man :)
Can u Guys Suggest Me Any Tutorial on Organic Chemistry ?
@Yahoo! I used this site as a reference when I took o-chem: http://www.monomerchem.com/display4.html I even used it in my lab job a few times! There's also: http://riodb01.ibase.aist.go.jp/sdbs/cgi-bin/direct_frame_top.cgi which is a database for organic compounds! Its really useful in lab and organic labs when trying to compare and identify compounds! as far as tutorial, I don't rly know of any, but if you need help, I can try and help. I have a year tutoring organic and a 1.5 years experience working in an organic synthesis lab.
Oh....Thats Great..:) and thxxx..Brother...)..if i have Question Surely i will Ask u..)
Still an undergrad so I can only help with what I know. Any chemical kinetics and why some rxns happen I might not be able to answer, but I'll try :_)
I recommend reading, "the art of writing reasonable Organic reactions", It is a great book and the solution manual is posted on its site.
Oh yeah, I 4got about books, there's also schaum's organic chemistry. My old roommate used it when he was taking o-chem.
