New study group: I propose forming a Philosophy study group.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Everyone asks for this. omg. What is so special about a philosophy group? I want an art group.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So have an art group. Why should that preclude having a Philosophy group or vice versa? And to answer your question, Philosophy attempts to investigate fundamental questions of being, knowledge, and value. That's what makes it special. Not better than any other study, each of which has its virtues; but I specialize in Philosophy, and I'd like a study group centered on it. Why would that be bad?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not bad...

Parth (parthkohli):

As an addendum to some of the the things others mentioned, it suffices that Philosophy is not an academic subject, even though it is adored amongst everybody.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@AddemF I didn't mean anything about it. I was just saying. But, a philosophy group has been asked for a lot. That was my point.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And I think one of the mods said they tried it, and people were asking about zombie apocalypses and all that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ParthKohli Philosophy certainly is an academic subject. Some things which call themselves Philosophy, like some lifestyles or attitudes, may not be studied in a classroom or text. However, Analytic Philosophy and the philosophies of the West almost always can, and are in nearly every university in the Western world. Perhaps Eastern Philosophies are less amendable to rigorous study, but Eastern Philosophy is not the whole of Philosophy.

OpenStudy (ghazi):

@ParthKohli Philosophy is not an academic subject? LOL what does that mean, Origin of everything , root of everything is not an academics?? , you must be kidding, just open the biography or anything of any scientist, humanitarian, activist or anyone who has contributed something groundbreaking , all of them were philosophers, it is absolutely an academic subject and being taught in every university of the world , i'd also asked about it earlier but i dont think mass has interest in it , so there is less probability of the formation of such group :(

Parth (parthkohli):

In my opinion, “philosophy” in general is too abstract to be introduced in high school.
