Geometry Help please... http://tinypic.com/r/95n9g9/6 Im really confused on this whole thing. 1. Which line has the equation x-3y=3? 2. Which line has the equation y= -x + 3? 3. Which equation of the line parallel to x = -16 and passes through the point (9, -10) 4. Calculate the equation of the line between the points (-6, -1) and (2,-1) 5. Determine if the lines 9x-2y= 16 and 2x-9y= -18 are parallel , perpendicular or neither? Sorry its a lot! I just dont understand ANY of this.
Try comparing your equations with the standard equation: y=mx+b where 'm' is the slope of the line (formula of the slope = \[\frac{ {y_{2}-y_{1}} }{ {x_{2}-x_{1}} }\] and 'b' is the y-intercept (the point at which the the line intercepts the y-axis. As for part 5, the slope of the parallel line is the same and reciprocal for the perpendicular lines.
1) GE 2) DE
3) x=9
4) (y+1) = ((-1+1)/(2+6) ) (x-2) or y+1 =0 y=-1
5) neither perpendicular nor parallel
@mandycruize Asad0000 has clearly stated necessary things to understand follow that first and then check the ans ...
