laws of exponents

(-mn^8)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you see how this works? (-mn^8)^2 m^2n^16 It is the same as (-m) * (-m) and (n^8) * (n^8) when exponents are multiplied they are added.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did yo ugetthe 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What are you referring to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

m^2n^16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

m to the second power is generated from (-m) * (-m) If it is not clear when using variables then replace it with numbers... For example 2^2 = 4 and (2^2 * 2^2) = 16 or 2^4

ok i see now. i have two more..want me post the next one as a new question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's better that way in the event I am not around to answer and it provides a clear answer to anyone who looks at the question.
