OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do you find a counterexample to show that the conjecture is false

OpenStudy (hba):

Welcome to Open Study.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

It depends on the conjecture. You would find a case where the conjecture fails. If it is not possible to find a counter example, demonstrate why it is not possible.

OpenStudy (hba):

Hints: 1) What happens when you multiply a number by another positive number less than 1? 2) Make the denominators of the two proper fractions large enough so that you can make the numerators whatever you want.
