When methane is burnt why does it contain carbon dioxide and nitrogen?

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

Nitrogen???

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Um, this sounds like combustion, and I don't know why it contains nitrogen. Lol.

OpenStudy (jfraser):

1) methane doesn't contain any nitrogen. 2) combustion reactions can contain nitrogen, just rarely do we talk about them.
