Mona needs to photcopy an 11 cm wide 15 cm from a book for her report. She wants to enlage the picture so that its length will be 30cm. How wide will the enlage picture be?

OpenStudy (mathmate):

|dw:1356921096894:dw| 11/15=x/30 Use cross multiplication to find x.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

You can set up a proportion, but just by looking at mathmate's drawing, look at how the length changes from the original to the copy. Make the width change the same way.

My bad, thought that link had a proper answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It would be 22

OpenStudy (anonymous):

By simply setting up a ratio

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Yep!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Set up a proportion.\[\frac{30}{15}=\frac{x}{11} \implies x=22\]
