Write an equation that describes a line that passes through (6, -8) and is perpendicular to the line described by 4x - 2y = 6?

OpenStudy (mrdoe):

Take the second equation, get it into standard form (y=mx=b), than rewrite the y-int so that it passes through the point. Hint: once you have your equation in standard form, evaluate y at the given point x=6 and then add to the y-int until it passes through the point you want.
