Transport is the movement of substances within an organism. The need for transport in plants; - Plants need to transport water and mineral salts from the soil to the leaves for the process of photosynthesis. -Plants need to transport manufactured food from the leaves to the rest of the plant. The Vascular tissue. Plants have a system of narrow tubes which carry out their transport.(vascular system). There are two types of vessels. These include Xylem and phloem XYLEM The xylem transports water and minerals from the roots through the stem to the leaves. PHLOEM The phloem transports manufactured food from the leaves to the rest of the plant. The plants that have a vascular system are referred to as vascular plants. Dicotyledonous and Monocotyledonous stems
