Explain why the density of the gas is lower than that of the solid.

intermolecular spacing between molecules is way too much in gas so it has almost no density , mass per unit volume is very low of gas as that of solid

the spacing between molecules is too much but in solids they are bonded to each other so there is high density in solid , so this is the fundamental reason, that is spacing between molecules ....
