The age of the universe is thought to be about 14 billion years. Assuming two significant figures, write this in powers of ten in (a) years, (b) seconds.

well for scientific notation you want your number to be greater than 1 and less than 10 (usually), so it would be 1.4*10^x so all you need to do is count the zeros. For the other parts, just use the number of days in a year, number of hours in a day, minutes in hours... just keep multiplying though.
