If a 42.9 ft. flagpole casts a 253.1 ft. long shadow then how long is the shadow that a 6.2ft. tall woman casts?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

This is a proportion problem. A proportion is two ratios that equal to each other. The ratio of the flagpole's height to its shadow is equal to the ratio of the woman's height to her shadow. The ratio of the flagpole's height to its shadow is: 42.9/253.1 The ratio of the woman's heigh to her shadow is: 6.2/x Now set the ratios equal to each other and crosss multiply to solve for x.
