My instructor is telling me that I need to double space at the end of every sentence according to the revised apa formatting. I read that it is for manuscripts and she said that research papers are included with this new rule. So, should I double space on research papers?

That was always the rule several years ago and then within the last decade some conventions abandond the double space for a single. I hadn't heard that it came back in APA, but these things tend to change rather frequently with no real reason. I'd say don't commit yourself to one way. Be flexible, because these things change. And definitely do what your instructor says for that class. Ultimately it's a lot easier to follow a teacher's standards than to have a battle over something so trivial.
