.4(.5x+10)=2(.3x-7)

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Distribute on both sides. (0.4)(0.5)x + (0.4)(10) = (2)(0.3)x - (2)(7)

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

0.2x + 4 = 0.6x - 14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would the answer be 22.5 ?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

let's see

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

2x + 40 = 6x - 140 -4x = -180 x = 45 This is what I get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would multiply both sides by 10 as a start and go with \[.4(.5x+10)=2(.3x-7)\] \[4(.5x+10)=20(.3x-7)\] because decimals are annoying either way will work
