Anyone know what I can do to get a better SAT Math score? (Also, what's with this lag? Had to use IE for the first time just to use OS)
Take an SAT prep class?
Studying helps. If you need additional problems, buy a SAT test prep book. Or if you are looking for specific math questions, feel free to ask someone on OS. Cheers.
Okay. Is just a prep book going to help? I got one two days ago. I only have 2 months to prepare though, so I just want to focus on the importat bits.. :/
learn how to use your graphing calculator. Yes the book will help because it will help you get use to the sections and you will use your time doing problems and not distracted by each section
College board has practice problems as well, I believe.
I don't know what type of math questions are asked on SAT, but prep books generally give a good overview. Prep books are designed specifically for certain things so they are the best option if you don't want to spend a lot of money on a SAT prep class with a tutor. Keep in mind though that OS is free and friendly when it comes to helping someone with a math question :)

Thanks! Also, how much do I need to worry? I took a practice SAT online (which are generally easier) but I didn't know how to do the grid ins because I took it before I got my prep book and so I got 7 questions wrong in that section. I took the practice one with no prep ever, and got a 670. And I'm trying to get into an elite academic school that focuses on math and science, so do I need to study a LOT LOT or just little?
if the focus is math and science, then study as much as you can.
build your speed and accuracy when solving problems
Oh, yeah. Don't pay for an SAT prep class. I only suggested that if your high school has one for free. Ideally you should have been prepping for the SAT since you started high school lol.
Lol I'm applying for Sophmore year (the school is 10-12)!
Use the study book and the sites
The key is to not freak out. If you start studying now, you will do fine.
Okay. I've started studying this week since I won't have time right after break (finals are coming up). I'll work my butt off for the next two months! Thanks for all of the advice, everyone! :)
Pace yourself, too. Never spend too long on the same question. Otherwise you will definitely lose track of time. If the question looks too difficult and you have no idea, just mark it for review and move on. Don't waste time on it.
Because no matter how difficult each question is, they are all worth the same amount of points. I.e., easy questions are worth just as much as hard ones.
They have online test you can take to help you study they are very affective!
Thanks for the advice! Yeah, the prep book talks about how some sections go from easy-medium-hard.
good luck :)
Thanks! :)
