question

OpenStudy (abb0t):

answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 5x-6 }{ x } =\frac{ 2x }{?2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops no question mark

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Cross multiply and solve for x. For example: \[\frac{ a }{ b } = \frac{ c }{ d } \] is \[ad=cb\] and solving for, say a, you would get: \[a = \frac{ cb }{ d }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when you do that you get 10x-12=2x^2

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Yep. Now rearrange, comebine like terms and solve for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but their are nun i thought you could not combine x and x squareds

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it becomes a quadratic which you then solve for x. let me know if that helps
