Suppose you are out jogging. You know what your average speed is because you have a steady pace. How could you determine how far it is to the mall from your house?

Time yourself. If you're moving at a constant speed (which we assume here is your average speed), you can multiply by the time it takes to get from one place to the other to find the distance travelled. Remember, v = d/t
