Any help would be much appreciated. A ferris wheel has a diameter of 70 feet and rotates clockwise. You get on the wheel at the bottom (at t=0) where the car is 10 feet from the ground. 1) Fine the equation of motion if it takes 90 seconds to complete one revolution. 2) Find your height from the ground after 35 seconds. 3) At what time is the wheel 30 feet high?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you know its a cosine function because it starts from minimum

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it a negative cosine function?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a cosine function usually starts from a maximum, so its shifted over

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and you know that the period is 90s

OpenStudy (anonymous):

acosk(t-b)+c c= +10 because its 10 feet from ground

OpenStudy (anonymous):

p= 2pi/k, p= 90 seconds

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you need to find out how much it shifts from a normal cosine function (t-b) , and the "a"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you show me briefly how the graph looks?
