What does dip in the absorption spectrum indicate ??
i guess no-body can answer here... ask on research gate or some research related site
A dip in an absorption spectrum indicates that at the frequency of the dip that energy photon is absorbed by an atom or molecule and is raised to an excited state. Useful in determining the composition or structure of unknown substances,
@gleem...Do u suggest the absorbance value at the dip can inform me the amount of element.....But then what does peak in absorbance spectrum tells ?? My knowledge suggest me that ur answer is for peak not for dip!!!
I think it is possible to use absorption spectra for quantitative measurements. I didn't think absorption spectra had peaks since the idea of absorption spectra was to determine which wavelength photon were preferentially absorbed. However as a guess you might cause a fluorescent phenomenon upon exposing some compounds to particular wavelengths.
