you could even work it out by guessing and adjusting your guess. say you guess x= 5, 12/2 = 6, 6*5 only 30, but you need 54, so x must be bigger than 5. Try x = 10, 6*10 = 60 which is a little too big. Now we know it is between 5 and 10, closer to 10. Try 9, hey, 9*6 = 54, just what we wanted!
