its not hard, its different for everyone, just as long as you try hard and put your mind to it you can do anything :) and learning a new langauge is not the hardest thing in the world, i have to say learning english was very easy and it didnt take long for me, but its different for everyone :)

Motivation is, I think, the only drive to learn a new language. Learning a language is hard because there is no goal. Because its "language"! To proceed the endless journey, one needs great motivation and needs to feed the motivation from time to time with new stimulation from others who also learns a language.

By the way, Chinese can be easier for the Japanese to learn than people from other countries because Chinese uses Kanji that the Japanese also uses. But!! Chinese pronunciation is completely foreign to the Japanese, so there is no big advantage for the Japanese....
