Check my work? Question: Write an equation in slope-intercept form for the line that passes through (-3, 2) and is parallel to the line described by y = 3/2 x + 4. My answer: use the point slope formula y - y1 = m (x - x1). So we get y - 2 = 3/2 (x - ( - 3)) We can change that to (x + 3), now we distribute y - 2 = 3/2x + 4.5, now we add 2 to both sides. y - 2 + 2 = 3/2x + 4.5 + 2 = y = 3/2x + 6.5.
