Which of the following intervals contains a zero for the function f(x) = -x^3 - 3x^2 - 5 guaranteed by the Intermediate Value Theorem? [-4, -3] [-3, -1] [-1, 1] This function does not have a zero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry misread that what you want to do is plug in values and see if they return a positive and negative, or a negative and positive for example let x = -4, see what the function returns, then let x = -3. see if the function returns a value of the opposite sign

so what would the answer be....please its my final :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well x = -4 returns positive and x = -3 returns negative, so that works [-4, -3]
