ah sorry; the directions say translate the verbal phrase into an inequality. Then graph the inequality.

But a new problem has risen too: if i have \[-3 < x +1 \le 5\] to simplify it, do I subtract the 1 from x+1 and subtract from both sides, or only one? If that wasn't correct, how would I simplify it, if i can.
