1) Find the value of y for a given value of x, if y varies directly with x. If y = 39 when x = –117, what is y when x = –132? My awsner -3y=x -3y=132 y=-44 2) Solve the equation or formula for the indicated variable. S = 6r³t, for t MY AWSNER S=6rt divide by 6r^3 s/6r^3=t 3) The function f(x) = x². The graph of g(x) is f(x) translated to the right 3 units and down 3 units. What is the function rule for g(x)? MY AWSNER y-(-3)=(x-3)^2 y+3=(x-3)^2 y=(x-3)^2-3 g(x)=(x−3)^2−3 4) A factory can produce two products, x and y, with a profit approximated by P = 14x + 22y – 900. The production of y can exceed x by no more than 100 units. Moreover, production levels are limited by the formula x + 2y ≤ 1,400. What production levels yield maximum profit? MY AWSER y <= x+200 x+2y <= 1600

Your 1st answer is almost correct, but you should write it as \[ y = -\frac{1}{3} x \] y varies directly with x (the way you wrote it , it says x varies directly with y) then replace x with -132. notice that you should get a positive y value

oh ok, thanks, are the others correct as well?

for the last question (4), you should sketch the two lines |dw:1357673843282:dw|
