Why did the U.S. decline to give aid to hungarian patriots in 1849?

The only thing the lesson had to do with the work that went with it was that the lesson oulined imperialism, isolationism, and intervention; the lesson said nothing about the Hungarian Revolution and I'm struggling to find information about the USA's involvement.
