Is this correct? A model is made of a car. The car is 9 feet long and the model is 6 inches long. What is the ratio of the length of the car to the length of the model? o18 : 1 o 1: 18 o 9 : 6 o 6 : 9 I think it is 9 : 6.

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

well,,firstly you should convert both the lengths into same units..

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

1 feet = 12 inches..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, it would take 2 models to form one foot. Therefore, doubled the size of the 9..

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

eh ?

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

9 feet= 9*12 inches now find ratio. take both measurements in inches..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That would make 108 : 18 correct?

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

how do you get 18 in denominator ? o.O though 108 seems correct..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wait I see. I thought we were going to convert the model's measurement into feet and go from there. So.. 108 : 6. Therefore, 108 divided by 6 = 18.

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

yep..bang on target! so whats the final ans ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 : 18 yes?

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

hmm.. nopes..try again.. and dont guess..

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

i mean dont guess,,arrive to the ans.. length of car should be in numerator .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so by dividing 6 by 108 we get 18. This means that we found the length of the car, correct? Therefore, it would be 18 : 1. However, if this is the case, then what makes the denominator 1?
