8 * 10 = 80. This is the area of the rectangle including the blank space in the top right, which means you need to remove it from the area we just found. the blank space dimenstion are 2ft on 6ft ( 8 -2 = 6) so the blank space area is: 6 * 2 = 12.
80 - 12 = 68. so the answer is 68ft.
