Why do they put holes in crackers?

The reason they put holes in crackers is because when they make them, they need to crackers to 'breath' so to speak. So they put holes in the crackers, it helps it not turn into a big square piece of bread. Hope that helped :)

Also, without the holes, the cracker would not bake evenly throughout.
