What is a calotype? What happens in this process?

Photography class? Huh. It's an early photographic technique. You use a camera obscura, then insert a sheet of drawing paper coated in silver chloride. When it was exposed to light the image is fixed on the paper, but in reverse (much like film negatives today). Then you place the negative against a second piece of coated paper to produce the positive image.
