10k-14=2(13-5k)

Great answer, I'm sure they learned a lot!

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

\[10k-14=2(13-5k)\] remember that \[a(b-c) = ab -ac \] so our equation becomes \[10k-14=2(13)-2(5k) = 26 - 10k\] if we add 10k to both sides, we get \[10k+10k-14=26-10k+10k\] \[20k-14=26\] \[20k-14+14=26+14\] \[20k=40\] \[k=2\]
