A young lawyer wishes to work in the federal government to improve society. The lawyer is 32 years old, a natural-born U.S. citizen, and living in Kansas since birth. Which position could voters elect the lawyer to fill?
To improve society? In order of effectiveness: (1) City councilman, or member of the county board. (2) Mayor or judge. (3) Kansas state representative or senator (I could not find any age restrictions in the Kansas Constitution). (4) Governor of Kansas (could not find any age restrictions here either). (5) Attorney General of Kansas. (6) Lieutenant Governor of Kansas. (7) Secretary of State of Kansas. (8) US Representative from Kansas (mininum age is 25) (9) US Senator from Kansas (minimum age is 30). There are probably a lot more local and state elective offices I don't know about, because I don't live in Kansas, any one of which would be of more use to society than election to national office. The least useful office to which he could aspire would be President or Vice-President of the United States, but he can't be elected to that because he needs to be 35 years old.
