U.S. Postal Service regulations states that a package can be mailed using Parcel Post rates if it weighs no more than 70 pounds. What is the maximum number of books weighing 12 pounds each that can be mailed in one box using Parcel Post rates?

OpenStudy (eyust707):

If you had 2 books how many pounds would that be?

OpenStudy (eyust707):

What about 3 or 4?? 5? 6?? at what point does it go over 70??

OpenStudy (eyust707):

Once you understand that you can just use division as mathstudent is most likely explaining

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

1 book, 12 lb 2 books, 24 lb 3 books, 36 lb Keep on going until you get over 70 lb, then it will be the line before that. You can also do this by dividing 70 by 12, and rounding down to the nearest lower whole number.
