Find the value of x. The diagram is not drawn to scale.

all the angles should sum up to 0

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

All the angles should add up to 360...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

90+148+2x+10+2x+112=0 solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm confused..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not saying 360 is wrong u can add 360 to any angle it will be same 30+360=390=30 60+360=420=60 see but u need smallest value right the standard value

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Interior angles of a polygon with n sides sum up to 180(n-2) degrees. So a square has 4 sides, and the interior angles sum to 360 (=4*90). This figure has 5 sides, so the angles should sum up to 540 degrees, not 360 (and not 0). You've got 1 90 degree angle, 112, 148, and 2x and 2x + 10. \[90 + 112 + 148 + 2x + 2x + 10 = 540\]

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

\[360+4x=540\] Solve for x.

x = 45?? Is that the solution?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Yes, that's my professional opinion :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay! Thank you so much for walking through it. (:

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

So the angles were 2x = 90 and 2x+10 = 100 degrees.
